feeding the Elderly
It is then their children begin to see their parents as a burden and may throw them out of their homes. Some put their old parents or grandparents in old-age homes and forget about them. Widows face unique challenges that often leave them vulnerable and marginalized in our society. The loss of a spouse is not only emotionally devastating but can also lead to financial insecurity, isolation, and even homelessness.
At LIGHT Society, we believe that no one should spend their final years in hunger or loneliness.
In many villages, elderly men and women are left without care — some have lost their families, while others have children who are too poor to provide for them.
They spend their days in silence, often going to bed on an empty stomach. Our Elderly Feeding Program was born out of compassion for these forgotten lives. Every day, we lovingly prepare and serve two nutritious meals — lunch and dinner – for 22 poor elderly people who have no one else to care for them. Each meal is served with dignity, joy, and the reminder that they are seen, valued, and loved by God. For many of them, it’s not just food that we offer — it’s family, warmth, and hope.
We see tears turn into smiles when they sit together to eat.
We hear laughter in voices that were once silent.
And we witness frail hands lifted in gratitude for something as simple, yet as sacred, as a meal shared
in love.
