In 2012, LIGHT Society started an English Medium School with a simple vision—to provide quality education and new opportunities to children from poor, vulnerable, disadvantaged, and oppressed communities.
Today, our school has more than 300 students from Kindergarten to Year 10. Around 90% of our students are first-generation learners, meaning they are among the first in their families to receive a formal education.
For many of these children, education is opening doors that were previously closed to their families. It gives them the opportunity to develop their abilities, gain confidence, pursue higher education, and build a better future.
More Than Education
We believe that every child has potential, regardless of their background or circumstances. Our school seeks to provide a safe, caring, and encouraging environment where children can learn, grow, and discover their gifts.
Alongside academic education, we seek to develop character, confidence, discipline, leadership, creativity, and life skills so that our students can become responsible and contributing members of their families and communities.
Our desire is not simply to educate children, but to empower them to build a better future.
Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
For a child from a disadvantaged family, a quality education can change the direction of an entire life. When a first-generation learner succeeds, the impact often reaches the whole family.
We are privileged to walk alongside these children as they grow—from their early years in Kindergarten through their high-school education—and to see them dream about possibilities that once seemed out of reach.
